This editorial cartoon by Henry Payne of The Detroit News depicts what NASCAR racing may be in the year 2025.
A 25-year newspaper veteran, the Pulitzer Prize-nominated satirist produces 12 cartoons a week for The News and United Feature Syndicate. Payne is also a contributor to National Review, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, and other national publications.
By 2025, NASCAR will be but a memory. You can ride the wave for 25+ years when money is rolling in and everybody is happy. You CANNOT ride the wave for another 25+ years when the money has dried up, fans get thinner and thinner, ticket sales get thinner and thinner, tv viewing dwindles week to week. NASCAR has had several consecutive years of the latter.....they won't make it like this to 2025.
