Furniture Row Racing announced Wednesday that Cole Pearn has been promoted from
lead race engineer to crew chief of the No. 78 Chevrolet driven by Martin Truex
Jr. in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
Pearn, 32, replaces Todd Berrier,
who has been offered a key position to remain at Furniture Row Racing.
“In an effort to continue to
move the team forward we feel the personnel changes and new additions will yield
positive results on the race track,” said Joe Garone, Furniture Row Racing’s
general manager. “Cole has played a vital role in our growth. The well-rounded skill sets
that be brings to the table in his new position as crew chief will he instrumental in our commitment to once again
become a Chase participant."
JR Motorsports also announced a new crew chief Wednesday for driver Regan Smith in what is now the Nationwide Series.
Jason Burdett will serve as Smith’s crew chief on the No. 7 Chevrolet team,
which will allow Ryan Pemberton to return to his original role as the company’s director
of competition.
Dave Elenz has also been hired to serve as crew chief on JRM's No. 88 Nationwide team, which will see several drivers in 2015 including Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick’ and Kasey Kahne.
Both Elenz and Burdett come to JR Motorsports by way of
Hendrick Motorsports.
