Yes, Donovan McNabb said Jimmie Johnson is 'absolutely not' an athlete
The video speaks for itself, but Fox Sports Live guest Donovan McNabb said Friday night that five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson was 'absolutely not' an athlete.
Needless to say the remarks did not go over well among the NASCAR fan base.
And Saturday morning, Johnson himself weighed in on his Twitter account: "I choose to be respectful. There is way too much venom spewed these days."

Well, Donovan McNabb is not a champion so which is better?
ReplyDeleteJimmie Johnson deserves no defense, regardless of whether McNabb is wrong or not.
ReplyDeleteI'd have been surprised if Donovan said otherwise...ignorance is bliss...Donovan, if you think it's so easy, and you dare to, try it.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the beef? McNabb is absolutely right. While there is a certain small degree of athleticism with regard to the endurance or hand-eye coordination involved with operating a race car, it's ludicrous to say drivers are athletes comparable to those Donovan competed against during his career.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Danica Patrick, Jeff Gordon, or Jimmie Johnson try to compete with the likes of Greg Hardy or Cam Newton in ANY athletic contest. Because it would be NO contest. Saying drivers are athletes is a lot like saying chess players or golfers are athletes - it's a real stretch of the word.
Hey, McNabb... at the moment, neither are you!
ReplyDeleteFar as I can tell....people who run triathalons are referred to as atheletes.
