NASCAR Hall of Fame selection process, eligibility to change
NASCAR spokesman Brett Jewkes announced during Thursday's press conference with this season's NASCAR championship contenders that there will be "significant changes" made to the NASCAR Hall of Fame selection process and eligibility requirements.
The changes will be formally announced during Champions Week next month at Las Vegas.
However, Jewkes did unveil one change on Thursday.
"As we meet to select the 2015 Hall of Fame class this May, NASCAR will become the first major sport to include a current competitor on the voting panel," he said. "Moving forward, the reigning Sprint Cup Series champion will have a vote for the NASCAR Hall of Fame."

Who do you think it is? Its obvious that JJ is a HoF driver so is it him or who?
ReplyDeleteIt will either be Jr, JJ or Gordon
ReplyDeleteIt clearly says that he will be on the panel and have a vote for the next class of inductees. Not actually inducted into the hall of fame.
ReplyDeleteIt means the champion will be able to vote for who makes it in the hall of fame guys!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea. I can't wait to see what other changes are being made. A lot of people deserve to be in the HoF but let's not let everyone in and his brother get in either.
ReplyDeleteThe 2 changes I'd like to see is #1) that no one still actively competing can go into the HofF, (Hendrick, Childress, Roush) and #2) a way to waive the 10s activity such as in the case of Alan Hulwicki who won a championship in grand style during his 7'1/2 seasons in NASCAR.
